Shain L.  on 1/19/2023 1:57:42 PM

Hello, my name is Shain L. I am 17 (will be 18 prior to graduation) and a senior at a Missouri high school. I do not look like I’m of “of African decent”, but I identify as such. Further, I’m sure a DNA test would reveal a small fraction of African lineage. Because the application requires “a picture in color”, would I be fairly considered for the scholarship even though I don’t look like I’m of “of African decent?”

Hello my name is Khalem Clarke, I am 18 and am a african american male that goes to Benjamin Franklin Highschool for finance information and technology. After Highschool I want to pursue something in the finance field, but tuition for college is really high for just my mom and dad.To manage a house with three kids, 2 of which are in elementary, makes it very challenging when it comes to finance. This scholarship would help me go to the school of my choice without having my parents paying so much out of there own pocket just to keep me in there. Also it will give me a chance to take another big step in my life and pursue and hopefully have a successful career. When it is all said and done, I would love to bless the people who gave birth to me and gave me the opportunity to take this next step.

I am currently attending Youngstown state university, and my major is business, and I also have a minor in arts. my business would be the art industry for people worldwide who have low-income and who are not doing so great at home but who are talented and inspiring artists, mostly for African Americans. And allow them to give them scholarships to go to art schools all over the world. Yet, I need financial support to achieve a long-term vision and hope for my parents. I require financial support to attend college because I'm a low-income student. While my parents gave me a lot of help, I earned little financial aid because of my low family income.

Hello my name is Timothy Hyman I am a recent immigrant to the United States of America and a first generation Afro-Caribbean student due to the pandemic. I am a senior who attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, I am interested in pursuing a career in the field of cybersecurity. This scholarship would afford me the opportunity to fulfill my dreams and assist my family and community Eva Galperin is well known for her significance to the cyber world She is noted for her extensive work in protecting global privacy and free speech and for her research on malware and nation-state spyware. Ms Eva fascinated me to no end and I spent extensive hours admiring her work. My fascination became even more real when I had a personal experience and was able to see the importance of her work in action. This occurred when my 82year old grandfather’s credit card and banking information were stolen and used for a long period of time without his knowledge. I remember the agony and frustration he felt at the time in having to prove that the charges were unauthorized and he did not move to another part of the country. That experience caused me much empathy and anger ; yet I felt so helpless in attempting to offer any resolve to the situation or even a solution to alleviate some of his emotional pain. Fortunately, just about that time I was introduced to Cybersecurity by my seventh- grade Information and Technology teacher, Mrs.Warren. As she explained the concept and importance of this career field in today’s world for the prevention of cybercrimes, she awakened a curiosity and an unquenchable passion within me to further pursue this field.I was now getting a good clue as to enter a field that would protect people like my grandfather and many others in similar situations from such a distasteful fate. I now understood my purpose in life and became completely mesmerized with this evolving field. It was during this time of an insatiable desire that I learnt about Eva Galperin a

I come from a one-parent household with low income. My mom is currently trying to pay my way through college as well as my sister's. Mikeila D  on 5/29/2020 3:59:56 PM

My name is Mikeila Dobbins, I've recently just graduated from East View High School in Georgetown,Texas. My current GPA is a 3.8. I come from a biracial family, my father is African American and my mother is Hispanic. I grew up watching my parents work multiple jobs just to provide for me and my siblings. I've moved throughout my whole life due to my parents having financial difficulties.Growing up as a child, I would constantly get picked on and made fun of due to my parents being able to only afford second hand clothing. When I was in school I worked really hard to try and maintain a good GPA, not only to make myself proud but to show my parents that no matter what struggles you have in life as long as you work hard you can achieve your goals. My hopes in starting college is to master getting all four degrees. My plan is to focus on the business direction with learning everything there is to learn about Finance,Marketing, and Entrepreneurship with hopes of getting myself into Real Estate. Once I have achieved my goaI as a Real Estate Agent, my vision is to help low income families have an opportunity to purchase and provide a good home to raise their family in.I have a really strong thrive for accomplishing my goals and I will continue to strive to achieve them.

Layla S  on 5/14/2020 12:17:45 PM

Hello! My name is Layla and I am a current junior entering my final year of high school. As I near the end of my high school days, the anticipation of entering my senior year and graduating from high school increases with each passing day. But along with that anticipation, the daunting decisions that I will have to make regarding the path to my future weighs heavily on my conscience. From selecting the major that will prepare me for my career/the workforce, to what college will best suit me, these decisions along with others will significantly affect who I will become as an adult and my overall future. During these unprecedented times, I have focused on filling out for many scholarships in hopes of graduating college debt free. I plan to major in astrophysics, which is considered to be an “expensive major”. There are not many in this field of my stature, more specifically there not many women of color in this field but I hope to change that. With this scholarship, I will be a few steps close to achieving my dreams and aspirations and inspiring others such as me to dream BIG!

This scholarship is right up my ally because not only do I like Microsoft and their products but I live it’s all about me and my people. I appreciate Microsoft for giving us the opportunity to get this type of scholarship and for giving us this type of money

I am applying for this scholarship because it will not only afford me the opportunity to pay for college but it will also make me the first in my extended family to go to and subsequently finish a four-year university; something that has not happened in my extended family. I have been admitted into the Computer Science and Computer Engineering majors of 10 universities all of which are great schools but with extremely high costs of attendance. My heart yearns to attend any one of these schools but the costs is always a deterrent. I am hopeful that I will receive this scholarship to make my dreams come true.

I am applying to this scholarship because I can't apply for Free Application For Federal Student Aid yet since my paper is still in process and living with just my mum I know she can not afford my tuition. So I need all the help I can get to further my education and help my mum.
