Scholarship Description

The Oregon Community Leadership Scholarship is a renewable four-year collegiate scholarship program eligible for current Oregon high school seniors (GED are also eligible) who are emerging leaders, and plan to attend an Oregon trade school, college or university. The program is intended to facilitate the growth of promising leaders in the state of Oregon by developing the skills needed to flourish their local communities. This is a need-based scholarship with criteria focusing on an individual’s involvement in their community, rather than academic or athletic performance.

Scholarship Details

  • Renewable four-year scholarship program for Oregon students
  • Five scholarships awarded each year
  • Each scholarship provides $6,250 per year
  • Total potential value of $25,000 over four years
  • Recipients receive mentorship and networking support from program advisors

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a current high school senior in the state of Oregon who plans to attend an Oregon trade school, college, or university
  • Must demonstrate leadership and involvement in community activities
  • Must demonstrate financial need through FAFSA Student Aid Index information
  • Scholarship renewal requires full-time enrollment at an accredited Oregon institution
  • Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 to renew the scholarship
  • Recipients must attend the program’s biannual mentorship gathering

Application Process

  1. Complete the scholarship application with personal and academic information.
  2. Submit your FAFSA Student Aid Index to verify financial need.
  3. Write and submit a one-page essay.
  4. Provide information about extracurricular activities, community service, jobs, or internships.
  5. Request two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your leadership and character.

Established in 2002 by former University of Oregon and NFL quarterback, Joey Harrington, the Harrington Family Foundation (HFF) has raised more than $2M for students across the state of Oregon. HFF cultivates the next generation of leaders in the state of Oregon by providing students need-based leadership scholarships, mentorship support, and an active community network. The scholarship also provides each student key mentorship support: personalized access to a board of 11 influential leaders/mentors in the community.
