Scholarship Description

To be considered for the Bishop John Bryson Chane Scholarship for Social Justice, applicants must: be a graduating high school senior in the Diocese of Washington; be an active member of an Episcopal church in the Diocese of Washington; be accepted for full time enrollment to attend an accredited junior or community college or an accredited four-year college or university; and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must demonstrate a commitment to social justice.

A student must submit the following documents for consideration by The Scholarship Committee: a school transcript demonstrating academic achievement (unofficial transcript ok); two letters of recommendation - one from Rector and one from either a school administrator or counselor (sealed envelope or direct email); a statement of educational goals and career objectives (not to exceed 300 words); and a brief essay of 300 words on one social justice issue that is important to you.
