Scholarship Description

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. The scholarship provides $2,000 to help pay for essential items to attend college and up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.

Scholarship Details

  • Need-based merit scholarship for high-achieving rural students
  • Available to students graduating from public high schools in counties with fewer than 50,000 residents
  • Open to students in more than 20 eligible states
  • Supports attendance at eligible four-year colleges or universities
  • Intended for students with strong academic performance and financial need

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduate from a public high school located in a rural area (county population under 50,000)
  • U.S. citizen and resident of an eligible state
  • Attended an eligible high school for both junior and senior years
  • Graduating high school senior with plans to attend a four-year college or university
  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • Minimum ACT score of 24 or SAT score of 1150

Application Process

  1. Gather documentation including proof of rural high school graduation, U.S. citizenship, state residency, transcripts, and test scores
  2. Visit the Hagan Scholarship website to access the online application
  3. Complete and submit the application form with all required materials before the deadline
  4. Wait for notification regarding finalist status or selection

Hagan Scholars who graduate while in the Hagan Scholarship Program can apply for a Hagan Graduate Scholarship, good for up to four additional consecutive semesters to attend graduate school or first two years of a professional program, receiving up to $7,500 each semester.
