Scholarship Description

Partners for Automated Vehicle Education is excited to partner with companies, schools, and other organizations in Albuquerque, Southeast Ohio and Washington, D.C., for an essay contest and scholarship program for high school juniors and seniors. The PAVE Essay Contest and Scholarship Program encourages high school juniors and seniors to imagine a world with autonomous vehicles and write about what this new technology would mean for their communities. Students need to submit their final essays (1,000 words or fewer) by 11:59 p.m. local time on the specified due date. The contests are open to high school juniors and seniors who live within the geographic boundaries of the three contest locations. The contests are in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Athens County and Vinton County in Southeast Ohio; and Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Each regional contest has three essay prompts from which students may choose. Students can select the topic that is of interest to them, and submit their essay (1,000 words or fewer). The essay prompts for each regional contest are listed in the entry form. A selection committee, made up of AV industry experts, will score the essays using this scoring rubric. To enter, complete your regional entry form, including the text of your essay (1,000 words or fewer) by 11:59 p.m. in the local time zone on the deadline.
