Scholarship Description

The American Fisheries Society is a worldwide organization of professional fishery scientists. Founded in 1870, the society is the world's oldest and largest organization dedicated to strengthening the fisheries profession, advancing fisheries science, and conserving fisheries resources. The mission of the Society and the Idaho Chapter is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by 1) advancing fisheries and aquatic science and 2) promoting the development of fisheries professionals.

The ICAFS High School Scholarship, which was first awarded in 2007, is intended to continue the Idaho Chapter's legacy of fostering the development of fish and aquatic professionals. This is awarded to an Idaho High School Senior (or GED-equivalent) who is planning to attend any college or university in Idaho. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA, and should plan on pursuing degrees in fish and aquatic studies. Winners will be notified by April 30.
