The Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest offers students ages 16 to 20 the opportunity to compete for $9,000 in college scholarships. Held annually in Stuttgart, Arkansas, this unique event celebrates the art of duck calling while honoring the legacies of legendary duck callers Chick and Sophie Major. Participants must be continuing their education through traditional college, trade school, or other career paths.
Scholarship Details
- Total of $9,000 in scholarships awarded to top four contestants
- 1st place: $5,000; 2nd place: $2,000; 3rd place: $1,250; 4th place: $750
- Event takes place Saturday, November 30
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a current student aged 16 to 20 on the day of the contest
- Open to students pursuing further education at a college, trade school, or career training program
- Photo ID and proof of age required at registration
- Seniors must perform a Main Street duck calling routine for eligibility
- Participation does not qualify winners for the World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest
Application Process
- Prepare a Main Street duck calling routine
- Bring valid photo ID and proof of age to registration on the day of the contest
- Arrive by 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30th, at the Main Street Stage in Stuttgart, Arkansas
- Compete in front of a panel of judges for a chance to win one of four scholarships
Throughout the years, funds for the scholarships have been raised in many different ways, including duck call sales, print sales, duck call pin sales, raffles, fish frys, hamburger cookouts, skeet and sporting clay shoots, donations, and memorials. Apply today!
