Scholarship Description

The Huebner Scholarships, named after Lieutenant General Clarence L. Huebner of the Big Red One during World War II, offer a unique opportunity for the descendants of First Infantry Division members. These competitive scholarships are designed for children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of former members, as well as children of active-duty soldiers of the division. They provide significant financial assistance to support higher education in any accredited university, college, or trade school.

Scholarship Details

  • Available to descendants of First Infantry Division members
  • Includes children of active-duty 1st Infantry Division soldiers
  • Award up to $15,000, distributed in annual installments of up to $3,750
  • Funded by donations to the 1st Infantry Division Foundation

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to high school seniors related to First Infantry Division veterans
  • Applicants must be attending an accredited university, college, or trade school
  • Scholarship amount adjusts to not exceed tuition costs

Application Process

  1. Submit a completed application form
  2. Write an essay on a major problem facing the country and propose solutions (approximately 200 words)
  3. Provide a copy of the most recent high school transcript, including GPA, class rank, and standardized test scores
  4. Include a letter of acceptance from a university, college, or trade school
  5. Obtain two letters of recommendation (excluding relatives), one from a school official
  6. Provide proof of parent’s or grandparent’s service with the First Infantry Division

It is essential that your application be complete and received by the Foundation not later than May 15th for consideration for the following school year. Please do not staple your documents.
