The UNCF Social Justice Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program awarding $5,000 to undergraduate juniors and seniors in New York, New Jersey, Vermont or Connecticut who are committed to social justice. Students majoring in criminal justice, forensic science, political science, criminology, pre-law, or any tract leading to law school will be given preference.
Scholarship Details
- Award amount: $5,000
- Open to juniors and seniors enrolled full-time at a UNCF member institution, HBCU, or any accredited four-year college or university
- Preference given to students majoring in criminal justice, forensic science, political science, criminology, pre-law, or related fields
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Permanent resident of New York, New Jersey, Vermont, or Connecticut
- Enrolled full-time as a junior or senior at the time of application
Application Process
- Complete the application via UNCF’s online scholarship portal by December 9th at 5:00 PM.
- Submit one Letter of Recommendation (LOR) through the UNCF online application system. The recommender cannot be a family member and must submit the LOR by the deadline.
- Write and submit an essay (500-750 words) discussing your passion and commitment to social justice and your career interests.
- Provide a recent official or unofficial academic transcript.
