This program, first established by the Legislature in 1943, provides $2,500 scholarships to children of New Hampshire service members who died on active duty or of service-connected disabilities to attend New Hampshire public colleges and universities.
Scholarship Details
- $2,500 scholarship awarded to eligible students
- Can be used for any level of higher education
- Applies to public colleges and universities within New Hampshire
- Free tuition may also be available through state college systems
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a child of a New Hampshire service member who died on active duty or from service-connected disabilities
- Must attend a public college or university in the state of New Hampshire
- Must use the funds for room, board, books, or supplies
Application Process
- Confirm eligibility based on parent’s military service and cause of death
- Select a qualifying public college or university within New Hampshire
- Contact the New Hampshire Department of Education or financial aid office at your chosen institution for application instructions
- Submit any required documentation, including proof of eligibility and enrollment
- Await confirmation and distribution of scholarship funds
The funds are to be used for room, board, books, and supplies at New Hampshire public colleges and universities. Since 1981, the Legislature has also allowed qualified children of fallen veterans to receive free tuition through the University System of New Hampshire and Community College System of New Hampshire.
