Scholarship Description

The Brian Terry Scholarship is offered to students intending to study criminal justice or a related field of study and eventually seeking a career in law enforcement. To be eligible, applicants must: be a United States citizen or legal resident; have a 3.0 GPA; and be a graduating high school senior or currently attending or planning to attend college and seeking an undergraduate degree. Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit: two recommendation letters (from either teachers, professors, counselors, administrators, employers or other non-relatives); an official and recent transcript; a personal essay (1,500 character-limit) based on prompts provided in the application; and two self-addressed/stamped envelopes (One will be used to acknowledge receipt of their application and the other will notify them of their scholarship application results.).

Brian Terry Scholars are chosen based on these values: a positive impact on community (dedicated to service beyond themselves); a commitment to social justice (persistence and determination to continuously seek to unite others and advance ideas that change the world); and prior academic success (a lifelong learner, passionate about intellectual growth).
