To be eligible for the Follansbee-Hansen Scholarship, applicants must: live in the Sacramento region; have at least a GPA of a 2.5 (if they are currently enrolled in school); have applied to or are presently enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education, including vocational and technical schools; identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community; and demonstrate an interest in service to the LGBTQ+ community.
Along with completing the application, applicants will be asked to upload the following documents: a copy of the most recent school transcript; a letter of recommendation to testify LGBTQ+ status and community involvement (it must be written by non-relatives); an essay on the topic “My Vision for the LGBTQ+ Community”; and a resume, list of extracurricular activities or a brag sheet (if available). Finalists will be asked to email confirmation of their acceptance to their higher education program. Applicants will be notified in June.
