Brighthouse Scholar Connections, Inc. offers scholarships of up to $10,000 per year to underrepresented students at certain schools in and around the Charlotte, North Carolina region. These awards are renewable for up to 4 years, totaling up to $40,000 for its recipients.
Scholarship Details
- Need-based
- Renewable with re-application
- Open to college and high school students at partner institutions
- May be used for tuition, fees, room and board, and supplies
- Current Brighthouse Financial employees and their families may not apply
Eligibility Criteria
- From an underrepresented or disadvantaged background, including:
- First-generation students
- Historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups
- From a school with a low graduation rate or funding
- Attendance at a Brighthouse Scholar Connections program partner institution full-time
- Demonstrated financial need
- Minimum GPA of 2.7
Application Process
- Gather all required documents, including:
- Personal statement
- Writing sample
- Resume
- Academic transcripts
- Letter of recommendation
- College acceptance letter (for high school seniors)
- Navigate to the application on the Brighthouse website
- Fill out the application and upload all supplementary documents
- Submit all required materials in advance of the deadline
Applications and supplementary documents are due on November 1st. High school seniors have until April 17th to submit college acceptance letters. Maintain academic standing and financial need to renew the scholarship via reapplication each year.
