Scholarship Description

In scope and value, the Flinn Scholarship is unlike almost any other undergraduate merit-based scholarship in the United States. The scholarship—valued at more than $135,000—covers tuition, fees, housing, and meals at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona, plus study abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a high school senior in Arizona applying to ASU, NAU, or the University of Arizona
  • Strong academic achievement (GPA and class rank considered but not sole criteria)
  • Minimum ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1230 (October is the last qualifying test date for the 2026 award)
  • Demonstrated leadership and service in school and community
  • Ability to communicate effectively and showcase strong personal character

Application Process

  1. Review the Flinn Scholarship website, information session, and materials such as the Make it Matter flyer
  2. Sign up for email updates and follow program announcements on Instagram
  3. Complete the online application, including biographical data, academic information, and extracurricular involvement
  4. Respond to two essay prompts and one short-answer question

The Flinn Scholarship Program provides an unparalleled package for undergraduate study at an Arizona public university for Arizona's highest-achieving high school seniors each year. Flinn Scholars, who can attend Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or University of Arizona, also benefit from working with top faculty and researchers, meeting business and civic leaders in their field, and forming their own community and alumni network.
