The Geneva Fund is a scholarship program for teen mothers designed to empower and support women who are balancing the demands of motherhood with the pursuit of higher education. This program aims to alleviate financial burdens and provide the necessary resources for teen mothers to achieve their academic and career goals.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarship award is $5,000 annually, distributed over four consecutive years
- Funds are dispersed at the beginning of each enrolled academic year
- Scholarship may be forfeited if the student discontinues enrollment at their selected four-year college (school transfers may be approved at the discretion of the scholarship committee)
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have been a teen mother (gave birth at age 19 or younger) or be currently pregnant
- Must be pursuing or planning to enroll in a four-year college or university
- May apply as a first-time student, transfer student, or returning student who previously paused education due to parenting responsibilities
- Must have or be in the process of obtaining a high school diploma or GED
- Should demonstrate ambition, resilience, and a strong desire to complete a degree program
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application form
- Submit a personal essay (500 words) explaining educational and career aspirations, how the scholarship will impact your future, and the challenges you’ve faced and overcome as a teen mother
- Provide proof of enrollment or acceptance to a four-year college (if available at the time of application)
- Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, employer, or community leader who can speak to your character and determination
