Scholarship Description

The American Australian Association (AAA) established its Education Fund in 2002 to provide much needed financial support and assistance to American and Australian individuals to undertake innovative and transformational study in each other’s countries respectively. With more than 300 scholar alumni and US $8.5 million invested to date, the AAA is committed to helping advance graduate education, in order to enable our countries most valuable resource – human capital – to unlock creative new solutions to global challenges and improve the quality of life for all citizens.

Applications are now open for the Graduate Education Scholarships in the USA to Australia direction. The general eligibility requirements for each specific scholarship opportunity are outlined below. Please see the AAA website, as application requirements and eligibility may vary between scholarships. Applications run from August 1 to September 30.

Graduate Education Scholarship opportunities: The AAA's Education Fund will provide support of up to US $40,000 to Americans undertaking or planning to undertake full-time Graduate level study (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research) at an accredited educational institution in Australia for a minimum of one-year.

•Specialty Scholarships: Support study or research in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Health, Medicine and Sustainability.

•Sustainable Health Care Funding (SHCF) Scholarship: Will support one American Graduate to undertake comparative research in the development of sustainable health care funding. Please note: consideration may be given for shorter duration research projects.

•AAA - Lisa Fox Indigenous Scholarship: Will support one Native American, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian in any disciplinary field.

Eligibility: Eligibility requirements vary depending on the specific scholarship. The general eligibility is listed below:

• Applicants must be an American citizen or permanent resident (dual citizens or permanent residents are not eligible); • Applicants must be applying for one-year of full-time graduate-level study or research in Australia; • Applicants must have a formal letter of offer into the accredited institution, program or course, in Australia, at the time of application (unless applying for the Lisa Fox Indigenous Education Scholarship); • Applicants must be applying within the fields of study supported (unless applying for the Lisa Fox Indigenous Education Scholarship); • If applying for any Indigenous Scholarship, applicants must be a recognized member of a Native American, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian community.

Other details: Scholarship funds may be used to support travel, living, tuition or other associated educational costs and may be used in conjunction with other support.
