Scholarship Description

The Julie A. Keil Women in Hydro Scholarship Fund supports women pursuing careers in the hydropower industry through educational scholarships and grants.

Scholarship Details

  • An education scholarship program for women enrolled in an accredited college or university and majoring in a discipline relevant to entering the hydropower industry. The scholarship will be based on merit and financial need.
  • Grants to women who plan to enter the hydropower industry to assist in expenses to attend industry events.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Women in sophomore to senior year in an accredited college or university.
  • Majoring in a field relevant to hydropower.

Application Process

  1. Applications open January 3rd and close May 15th.
  2. How do you feel you emulate the characteristics of Julie Keil? Share an example of when you used one or more of these characteristics or how you would use these characteristics in the workplace.
  3. Are you familiar with hydropower? How high is your interest in pursuing a career related to hydropower? If you have an interest in pursuing a career in an area related to hydropower, what area would be most appealing? Operations, Manufacturing, Fish Passage, environmental sustainability, stakeholder engagement, etc.
  4. Selection based on essay, appraisal, activities, honors, performance, and personal circumstances.

Julie Keil promoted hydropower as renewable energy technology and a responsible steward of the nation’s water resources. She helped bring disparate and often dissenting individuals together to work towards common goals through her leadership, courage, and strength. Her keen negotiating skills helped create outcomes that reflected fair dealing and the intricate relationship among engineering, the environment, and economics. In addition, she brought uncommon energy, persistence, and enthusiasm to all her efforts on behalf of the hydropower community.This scholarship aims to support and empower women entering the hydropower industry, offering both financial assistance and industry exposure.
