The Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association presents four different scholarships each year. Three scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors enrolling in or students entering their second year at either the University of Rhode Island or Roger Williams University who are studying marine science or fisheries. All qualified candidates who apply for either the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Foundation’s “Fisheries and Marine Sciences Scholarship” or the “Marine Sciences Continuing Education Scholarship” will be considered for the Stephen J. Therrien Memorial Scholarship for Fisheries and Marine Sciences.
The Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association is a non-profit organization, created to provide a forum for recreational saltwater anglers; to provide education to members concerning fishing techniques, improved catches, and overall enjoyment of fishing; to foster sportsmanship; to support marine conservation and sound management of fisheries resources; and provide a unified voice to preserve and protect the rights, traditions and the future of recreational fishing in Rhode Island.
