The American Galvanizers Associations (AGA) Galvanize the Future: A Richard L. Brooks Memorial Scholarship essay contest was developed to assist future specifiers with the rising cost of a college education. The scholarship is available to full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university in North America studying architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management, material science, or a related field.
Scholarship Details
- Two scholarships awarded annually, each valued at $2,500
- Open to undergraduate and graduate students (full- or part-time)
- Applicants must be studying in North America
- Qualifying fields: architecture, civil or structural engineering, construction management, material science, or related disciplines
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university in North America for the coming academic year
- Open to both undergraduate and graduate students of any age
- Eligible majors include architecture, civil/structural engineering, construction management, material science, or related fields
- High school students are not eligible
Application Process
- Confirm your enrollment and field of study meet eligibility requirements
- Write an original essay between 1,000 and 2,000 words in English on a topic related to galvanizing or its application in your field
- Ensure the essay is relevant, accurate, concise, and innovative
- Submit your essay to the AGA before the March 31st deadline
Winners will be personally notified and announced on the AGA website in May. The scholarship will be paid directly to the winning students educational institution. All submissions become the property of the American Galvanizers Association and will not be returned. Winning essays become the property of the American Galvanizers Association which will cooperate fully with the authors in the republication of essays.
