The American Association of Blacks in Energy proudly supports the academic achievements of students who desire careers in the energy industry, by awarding scholarships to those students who meet the minimum scholarship qualifications. Scholarships may be awarded by the National office as well as local Chapter(s) in your high school’s city or state.
Annually AABE awards more than $350,000 in scholarships to students. AABE has engaged energy-related partners to increase the number of scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Details
- Six regional scholarships of $3,000 each
- One national scholarship of $5,000
- National scholarship renews annually for up to 4 years, provided awardee maintains a 3.0 GPA and remains in an eligible major
AABE local chapters review the applications received and select local scholarship winners, from which the top-ranked candidates are forwarded to the National Scholarship Committee for consideration of regional and national awards.
Eligibility
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Graduating high school senior who will enroll in college in the coming fall
- Majoring in business or a STEM field
- Under-represented group such as Black/African-American, Latino, Native American
Though founded to address funding inequities in education resources for African Americans, AABE-administered scholarships are open to all ethnicities; the great majority of recipients are still African-American. It provides scholarships to students attending its member colleges as well as to those going elsewhere.
