The SLAS-NOBCChE Scholarship aims to increase the diversity of the global science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce by supporting young people of color, who are often underrepresented in the STEM field. This year, we will award two $50,000 scholarships to support students of color who will pursue an undergraduate STEM degree after high school, which includes mentorship from a STEM professional throughout their degree. This scholarship is made possible thanks to our generous donors – Pfizer and Amgen.
Interested students must submit a STEM-related research project idea they want to pursue. Selected applicants will be paired with a mentor (representing a funding company and/or the greater SLAS or NOBCChE communities) who will help them in developing their research project ideas into a full project proposal to fulfill the application submission requirements. Final project proposals will be due end of April. Finalists will be selected by early May. Throughout the summer, mentors will work with finalists to refine their projects and prepare for final submission at the end of July. Finally, the winners will be selected and notified near the end of August. Applications open in February.
