The Leon M. Poe Scholarship promotes diversity, equity and inclusion of college minority students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to successful career selection by providing tools, mentorship and scholarship. Students must be enrolled or accepted to a 4-year accredited college or university, as a full-time student, in the United States as of September following the awarding of the scholarship. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale. Dollar amounts will vary.
Students must be obtaining a degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) fields. Students must be considered a minority, i.e., gender, race or ethnicity. The application must be completed in 280 characters or less per prompt. The Leon M Poe Scholarship Foundation was founded by Edana Jones. She is a graduate of Alabama A&M University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
