The United States Navy Memorial received an endowment from the widow of a Chief Petty Officer with the purpose of awarding scholarships to the grandchildren of deceased Chief Petty Officers (E7, E8, or E9). Each year, application packages will be reviewed and graded by a group of active-duty Master Chief Petty Officers in the Washington, DC area to award a minimum of one but no more than three $5,000 scholarships.
Scholarship Details
- Awarded to grandchildren of deceased US Navy or Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers (E7, E8, E9).
- Applicable towards attendance at accredited two or four-year colleges, universities, or vocational/trade schools.
- Intended for undergraduate degree programs or vocational/trade credentials only.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be the grandchild of a deceased Chief Petty Officer (E7, E8, E9) of the US Navy or Coast Guard.
- Must be attending or have been accepted to attend an accredited institution.
Application Process
- Prepare to provide proof of your grandparent's service and rank within the US Navy or Coast Guard.
- Submit evidence of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited educational institution.
All applicants must provide documented proof of relationship to deceased Grandparent who was a Chief, Senior Chief, or Master Chief. Apply online on the navymemorial website or download the form and mail it in, postmarked no later than April 1st.
