The mission of the Federation of Houston Professional Women Educational Foundation (FHPWEF) is to award scholarships and gifts to aid and advance the education and knowledge of women in the community.
Scholarship Details
- Supports women attending Texas colleges or universities or accredited online programs
- Applicants must be enrolled in at least 6 credits and have completed at least 30 semester hours
- Scholarship recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Applicants must provide detailed essays and supporting documents
Eligibility Criteria
- Must identify as female
- Must be a Texas resident
- Plan to attend a Texas college or university or an accredited online college
- Have completed at least 30 semester hours of credit
- Currently enrolled to take 6 or more credits
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Application Process
- Prepare the following information and documents:
- Student information and educational institution contact details
- Details of leadership roles and recognition within the past three years
- Email and phone numbers of recommenders (academic references preferred)
- Statement of your goals (200 words or less)
- Essay: "What experiences have helped determine your goals?" (400 words or less)
- Biographical sketch (100 words or less)
- Official or unofficial recent college or university transcripts (PDF format)
- Two signed letters of recommendation, dated within the last year and on letterhead (PDF format)
- Complete the online scholarship application
- Upload all required documents as PDF files with the application
- Ensure essay responses are original, free of grammar and spelling errors, and adhere to the word limits
Founded in 1993, FHPW EF received non-profit status under IRS Code Section 501(c) 3 in 1994 and continues to be a non-profit all-volunteer organization. Since 1997, the Foundation has given in excess of $530,000 in scholarships and educational grants to women and young girls in the greater Houston area.
