The Myra L. Austin Taylor Scholarship honors the memory of Myra L. Austin Taylor, a dedicated educator and advocate for her community. This scholarship provides support to students attending Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCUs) who are majoring in education/elementary education or are active members of their institution's band.
Scholarship Details
- For students attending or planning to attend an HBCU
- Applicants must be majoring in education/elementary education OR be a current member of their institution's band
- Minimum GPA requirement: 3.0
- Proof of 90 hours or more of community service is mandatory
- Submission of enrollment and/or transcript proof is required
- High school seniors must provide a high school transcript and proof of enrollment before the fall semester starts
Application Process
- Complete the online application during the application period, which runs from January 1st to the specified due date.
- Ensure all required documents, including proof of community service and transcripts, are attached to your application.
- Submit your application before the closing date.
- Applicants will receive timely notifications regarding the status of their application.
If you are an incoming student, you will need to provide your high school transcript and proof of enrollment. To finish up the application, you'll need to complete a minimum 500-word essay that answer the question: "Describe a teacher who has had a profound impact on your academic journey and personal development. Share specific examples of how this teacher has inspired, challenged, or guided you."
