The Soil and Water Stewardship Scholarship seeks to provide financial support to students enrolled fulltime at an accredited two- or four-year college, community college, or university, which will lead to a career in a natural resource field.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarship supports students pursuing natural resource-related fields.

- Funded by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Land Use Council 16.
- Promotes conservation and natural resource stewardship inspired by Aldo Leopold’s land ethic.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must currently reside in Boone, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will, or Winnebago County.
- Must intend to enroll in a full-time course of study related to natural resources.
- Fields of study may include fish or wildlife biology, conservation, ecology, forestry, hydrology, soils, pollution control, or water quality.

- Complete the application form and include all required materials.
- Submit a 2-page typed and double-spaced essay addressing:
- Your interest in pursuing a career in natural resources.
- Your goals and aspirations after completing your education.
- The most critical conservation issue facing local soil and water resources, and your recommended management practices to address it.
- Ensure your application highlights academic performance and dedication to conservation goals.
