UCI is the first public university to create an official esports program and is regarded as one of the best and most comprehensive in the world. The vision for the esports program was born in the summer of 2015. With a successful Computer Game Science major, a thriving gaming community, and a history of elite competition, UCI is a natural place for esports to thrive.
Eligibility
- High-Ranking Achievers: We value players who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence. If you’re among the top players in your game, we want to hear from you.
- Battle-Tested Competitors: Experience in the competitive arena matters. Whether it’s regional tournaments, online leagues, or major championships, your competitive history speaks volumes.
- Academic Champions: Balancing esports and education is no small feat. We prioritize students who maintain strong academic performance alongside their gaming prowess. A high GPA is necessary.
- Versatile Masters: Depth in your hero/agent/champion pool is critical. We seek players who can adapt to any situation and bring a wide range of skills to our team.
Requirements for Scholarship Titles
- League of Legends: Grandmaster and above, amateur or professional experience
- Overwatch 2: Grandmaster 1/Top 500, amateur or professional experience
- Valorant: Radiant, amateur or professional experience
