Scholarship Description

The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Environmental Sustainability Foundation (MCCESF) Scholarship supports students pursuing careers in environmental and sustainability fields. This scholarship helps build a knowledgeable workforce for a sustainable future by awarding financial aid to rising juniors studying environmental studies, natural sciences, or related disciplines.

Scholarship Details

  • Award of up to $5,000 per recipient per academic year
  • Up to two scholarships awarded annually
  • One rising junior is selected annually

Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled in a degree program in environmental studies, natural sciences, or a related field
  • Rising college junior (entering junior year in the fall)
  • Must attend a school located in Minnesota or be a Minnesota resident
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • Must not be related to any MCCESF directors, officers, or selection committee members

Second-Year Award Criteria

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first awarded year
  • Submit an official transcript by September 1 of the following year
  • If both requirements are met, the second-year scholarship is awarded automatically

Application Requirements

  1. Complete and submit the online scholarship application by February 28th
  2. Provide a signed letter of recommendation from a non-relative with a science/natural science background who is familiar with your goals and aptitude
  3. Applicants may be contacted for an in-person or remote interview before a final award decision is made
  4. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the applicant’s school upon presentation of a tuition bill

The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet on an as needed basis and shall have the sole authority to select award recipients. Neither the Board of Directors of MCCESF nor the Scholarship Selection Committee are required to award any scholarships if applications are found insufficient or for any other reason.
