To be eligible for the Bernice Murray Scholarship, applicants must: be a single parent with primary custody of at least one child 12 years of age or younger; be seeking an undergraduate degree; be enrolled at least part-time; demonstrate financial need; and be attending an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Selection for this scholarship will be based on financial need, a recommendation letter and a personal essay. Applications run from October until the due date.
This scholarship was created by former U.S. Senator James M. Jeffords of Vermont, along with family and friends of Bernice Murray, longtime aide to Senator Jeffords. The scholarship was established to honor her unselfish contributions to improving the lives of Vermonters.
