The Virginia Federation of Republican Women (VFRW) is an organization devoted to empowering women of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds in the political process, In support of that goal, the VFRW established the Political Studies Scholarships in 2006. This year, two (2) scholarships will be awarded to Republican women working to promote Republican principles on campus and in their daily lives.
Preference will be given to students majoring in a degree field that is directly related to Political Science. Those subjects may include: Political Science, Government, Law, Political Communications/Journalism, Public Policy, Public Administration, International Relations, Philosophy, or Economics. Students must not be in their final year of study. Value $1,000 each.
Applicants must: Be a female with US citizenship and a resident of Virginia for the last 2 years; Be registered to vote in the Commonwealth of Virginia; Either be currently attending or committed to attend (in the Fall of the year applying for this scholarship) a college or university in Commonwealth of Virginia; Have a minimum GPA of 2.5; Submit one (1) letter of recommendation from someone other than a family member mentioning the applicant’s character and moral standing; Submit a 1-page (only) resume; Complete application, answer all essays and submit documents with the application. Winning students should plan on attending lunch on Saturday of the VFRW convention in Harrisonburg, VA. Applicants must give written approval to the VFRW to use their name and photo for VFRW Scholarship Promotions. Completed applications must be received by midnight on Friday, April 14th.
