The Future Mental Health Leaders Scholarship is an academic award provided to high school seniors who plan to pursue a psychology, counseling, social work, or mental health related major for their undergraduate degree. The goal is to support students who wish to dedicate their careers to the mental health field. The deadline to submit your application materials is May 31st, 11:59 pm CST.
Eligibility Criteria
- High school senior planning to attend a 4-year university
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (cumulative)
- Must be pursuing a major leading to a mental health career (counseling, psychology, clinical social work, etc.)
- Demonstrates financial need
- Commitment to community service or mental health advocacy (work experience, clubs,
volunteer work etc.)
Essay
In 500-1000 words, explain why you want to enter the mental health field and how your background and future goals make you an exemplary candidate for this scholarship. Share any personal experiences that sparked your interest and overall motivation as well as the specific area of mental health you wish to specialize in. Describe how you would use your future career to contribute to mental health accessibility, resources, or policies in your community. The winning essays will show passion for supporting mental health wellness and working directly with affected populations. The winning essays will demonstrate a strong commitment to and understanding of frontline Mental Health issues that need to be addressed in our communities.
