HAPA’s Oahu Chapter provides up to a total of $3,000 in awards to accounting scholars and future accountants each year. This includes a $1,000 scholarship for students to use toward tuition at a two-year college or university and a $2000 awards for students to use toward tuition at a four-year college undergraduate or graduate degree. Individual criteria may vary by scholarship, but for either award, applicants must: be currently enrolled and have completed some accounting classes; be Hawaiian residents; have a 3.0 GPA; and have not been a previous awardee.
The applicant should submit: a completed scholarship application form; a transcript of college record; a resume; and a one-page essay on an assigned topic. Applications will be evaluated based on: overall presentation and essay; academic achievement; extracurricular activities; and financial need. HAPA, at its discretion, may request additional details and/or documentation supporting applicants’ submissions as considered necessary during its review process. Recipients will be notified near the end of October.
