Scholarship Description

The Noreen Ackerman ’80 Scholarship is open to full-time students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year in the fall semester. The scholarship is awarded for one year and is not automatically renewed. Applicants must be Rhode Island residents to qualify.

Requirements:

• Enrollment with 12 credit hours or more for the fall semester. • Rhode Island residency. • Entering sophomore, junior, or senior year. • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. • Typed essay (maximum 500 words) addressing how, if given the scholarship, you will give back your time and talent to • • Rhode Island College and your community. • List of extracurricular involvements, including, but not limited to, school activities, community service, and employment.

All scholarship awardees are selected by the Alumni Association Scholarship Committee based on the fulfillment of these criteria and the submitted materials. Make sure to include a comprehensive essay detailing your achievements at Rhode Island College and explaining how the scholarship aligns with your career goals. Additionally, provide a list of extracurricular activities showcasing your involvement in school, community service, and employment.
