In honor of Grandmaster Moo Yong Lee’s enduring legacy, US Cup Tae Kwon Do is proud to offer two $1,000 scholarships to college-bound students who actively train in Tae Kwon Do. Grandmaster Lee, a 10th Dan and Tae Kwon Do Hall of Fame inductee, dedicated his life to martial arts and education. This scholarship reflects his passion for both and supports students committed to personal growth, academic achievement, and community service.
Scholarship Details
- Two non-renewable $1,000 scholarships available
- Awarded to students enrolled in a college or university for the coming academic year
- Open to active Tae Kwon Do practitioners in a belt promotion program
- Recipients selected based on academics, Tae Kwon Do achievement, and character
- Preference given to applicants with financial need or ties to New England
- Funds are sent directly to the student’s college or university
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled in a Tae Kwon Do belt promotion program
- Accepted to or enrolled in a nonprofit, accredited U.S. college or university for the coming academic year
- Demonstrate strong academic performance and positive personal character
- Participation in community service or extracurriculars is considered
Application Process
- Complete the official scholarship application form
- Obtain confirming signature from your Tae Kwon Do instructor
- Submit a high school or most recent college transcript
- Include one or two letters of reference
- Provide a college acceptance letter (if entering as a freshman)
- Submit the entire application package by July 31st
