Applicants of the Hsiao Memorial Economics Scholarship must be a graduate student attending an accredited U.S. college or university in the coming fall who is pursuing a graduate degree in the social sciences and economics. Preference is given to students pursuing a career in economics and also to research/study topics that benefit Asians or Asian Americans, especially those in social/economic need. Applicants with Asian heritage are preferred (though not required), and all applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or foreign nationals and demonstrate financial need.
Apart from completing the application, applicants must also submit: their most recent transcript(s) of grades (including grading scale); a resume (include work experience, school activities, community service, honors & awards); and two letters of recommendation (at least one of which is from a current professor). This scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Katharine and Dr. Liang-Lin Hsiao, who were prominent professors.
