  • Kids’ Chance of Virginia is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships for children of Virginia workers that have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident or occupational disease. Eligible applicants must: be 26 or younger at the time of the application; demonstrate financial need; be a US citizen; and be accepted or planning to attend a college, university, or technical school (either full-time or part-time). Scholarships are awarded once a year and students may apply every year for which they are eligible.

    Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit: a transcript of their most recent grades; a copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) they received from completing the FAFSA, with their Student Aid Index (SAI), formerly called the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), if they are attending a 2-year or 4-year college or university; a brief description of their education and career goals; proof of injury/illness claim such as determination letter or claim number from the state workers’ compensation board or death certificate; and their parents' basic employer information.
