The Lader Family Scholarship Program is open to residents of Illinois who are blind or visually impaired. Scholarship funds are to be used to defray the costs of tuition, books, assistive technology, or other educational expenses for students enrolled in post-secondary programs, including accredited certifications and Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees.
Scholarship Details
- Funds can be used for tuition, books, assistive technology, and other approved educational expenses
- Open to students pursuing certifications, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees
- Annual ceremony attendance required for scholarship receipt: July 31st
- Over $1 million awarded in scholarships since 2004
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a resident of Illinois
- Blind or visually impaired
- Enrolled in a post-secondary program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Application Process
- Prepare a personal essay and a financial statement of need
- Obtain an eye report form completed by a medical professional
- Collect two letters of recommendation
- Submit official transcripts indicating a minimum GPA of 2.5
The Scholarship Ceremony is held in the summer. In order to receive your scholarship, you must attend the ceremony on Thursday, July 31st
