Scholarship Description

The WIA Foundation is pleased to provide scholarships to those who identify as women, who are interested in a career in the aerospace field to pursue higher education degrees in engineering, math or science. Four merit-based awards of $5,000 each will be given to rising juniors and seniors in college, to be applied to the coming academic year.

Scholarship Details

  • Four scholarships of $5,000 each awarded annually
  • For students pursuing bachelor’s degrees in engineering, math, or science
  • Applications open mid-February each year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must identify as female
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Must be a rising junior or senior working toward a bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, or science
  • Must have completed at least 2.5 years of full-time college coursework by the time of application
  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or its territories
  • Must plan to be enrolled for the upcoming academic year
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Application Process

  1. Check the Women in Aerospace Foundation website in mid-February for the application release
  2. Complete the application form with academic and personal details
  3. Submit supporting materials as required (e.g., transcripts, recommendations, statement of interest)
  4. Ensure all materials are submitted by the deadline indicated on the application portal

The WIA Foundation scholarships are funded by generous donations from individuals and corporations around the aerospace community. The WIA Foundation Board, WIA Board, and others in the aerospace community continue to contribute ongoing financial support. This investment is creating an endowment fund to support the success of the Foundation’s programs and ensure the scholarship program continues in perpetuity.
