Scholarship Description

Are you a first-generation student pursuing a graduate degree and looking for financial assistance? The Editor World Graduate Student Scholarship provides a $1,000 award to help cover educational expenses such as books, supplies, or other necessities for students enrolled in a master's or doctoral program.

Scholarship Details

  • Award amount: $1,000
  • Funds may be used for books, supplies, or other academic expenses
  • Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient via check
  • Application deadline: May 1st

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a first-generation graduate student (parents did not attend or complete a four-year college degree)
  • Must be enrolled or pre-enrolled in a graduate program in the United States
  • Must be a U.S. resident
  • Essay and application must be submitted in English

Application Process

  1. Complete the scholarship application form.
  2. Submit a 900-word essay addressing:
    • Examples of your academic success.
    • How access to resources (such as family support and financial resources) relates to education.
  3. Submit all required materials by May 1st.
  4. Scholarship recipient will be notified via email in July.

Additional Requirements for the Scholarship Recipient

  • Provide a headshot photograph within 10 days of notification.
  • Sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, General Release and Liability Waiver, Proof of Enrollment, Media Release, and a completed W9 form.
  • Agree to have your name, photo, and essay featured in an Editor World press release and marketing communications.
  • Scholarship funds will be issued within four weeks of notification.

Important Terms

  • Only one application per student will be considered.
  • Scholarship is non-transferable.
  • All applicable taxes are the responsibility of the recipient.
  • Editor World reserves the right to modify the scholarship program at any time.

Are you a first-generation student enrolled, or about to enroll, in a graduate degree program and need assistance covering educational expenses? A graduate degree program is a master’s or doctoral program that can be completed after finishing a bachelor’s degree.
