The Hmong Community Higher Education Scholarship offers financial aid to outstanding graduating high school seniors and current college students, of Hmong descent, from Marathon, Lincoln, or Shawano Counties, who are pursuing a college degree in any field of study. To be eligible, applicants must: be accepted as a full-time college student in the upcoming fall; be either a high school senior or a current undergraduate (non-traditional students are also eligible); have a 3.2 GPA (if a high school senior) or a 2.8 GPA (if a current undergraduate); be a US citizen or permanent resident; and demonstrate concern and commitment to improving the Hmong community.
Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit their most recent transcript, a list of extracurricular activities and two letters of reference from non-relatives. Students are only allowed to receive this award once. The student must provide proof of registration to the Community Foundation office for payment to be initiated. The Foundation will make payment directly to the college or university the student is attending. Dollar amounts will vary.
