To be eligible for the Next Swell Scholarship, applicants must: be a citizen of the United States of America or a legal permanent resident; be either an enrolled undergraduate student starting their senior year, or be pursuing a graduate degree (undergraduate seniors must be majoring in a marine science field at the time of application submission; all graduate-student applicants must be able to provide proof of graduate school admission in a marine science field upon receipt of award); and all undergraduates must have a 3.0 GPA, while all graduate applicants must have a 3.5 GPA. Applications run from the Winter until the deadline.
The Next Swell was created in part for the purpose of providing financial academic scholarships to exceptional undergraduate and graduate students pursuing research and/or a degree in a marine science or marine conservation focused area. Scholarships are merit-based and will be awarded to the most qualified applicants who display a passion for marine conservation. All scholarship funds must be used for tuition, fees, or course books and supplies that are required for enrollment at your educational institution.
