The Next Swell was created in part for the purpose of providing financial academic scholarships to exceptional students pursuing research and/or a degree in a marine science or marine conservation focused area.
Scholarship Details
- Multiple scholarships of $5,000 for the coming academic year
- Scholarships are merit-based and awarded to students passionate about marine conservation
- Funds must be used for tuition, fees, or required course books and supplies
- Scholarship can only be applied to via the link on the scholarship provider's website.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
- Must be pursuing a graduate degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a marine science or conservation-focused area
- Must provide proof of attendance, such as an academic transcript, or proof of acceptance for first-semester graduate students entering Fall 2025
- Must have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
Application Process
- Verify eligibility as a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
- Ensure enrollment or acceptance in a graduate program for the coming fall
- Prepare necessary documentation, including academic transcripts or proof of acceptance
- Complete and submit the scholarship application by the deadline
The Next Swell is a nonprofit organization formed for the purpose of cultivating future generations of marine conservationists and scientists. The Next Swell Application will be open from 15 January and close 15 March (EST), with awards being granted by 1 May.
