  • The MMUF Dissertation Grants offers awards for a 12-month period. Fellows are encouraged to apply for dissertation grants from their home institutions. Applicants must be Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellows and candidates for the Ph.D. degree in fields recognized under the terms of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program. The value of education is something that I have understood since a very young age. Neither of my parents had a opportunity to attend college and faced may struggles in their personal and professional lives because of this. They made a commitment early in my life to do everything within their power to install in me a love of learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication. Over the years I didn't understand what I was doing in school because I so behind. From second grade to seventh grade I had IEP. It was a rough journey thinking I would have IEP for the rest of life. I wanted to give up but my heart kept telling me to get up and keep working. I graduated out of IEP in seventh grade and did it all by myself. That was the biggest accomplishment I did. Five years later I'm in my last year of high school doing great and my gpa is great.If selected for this scholarship, I will continue the same diligence.
