Are you looking to study or undergo research in a well-known university in the United States, but lack the financial support? If so, you have come to the right place. The BAEF encourages application for fellowships to talented Belgian individuals in the early years at each stage of their education. Every year, BAEF offers more than 65 Fellowships to Belgian students and researchers. This will allow you to pursue your studies, or research projects at your chosen US university or research center. In order to be able to apply for a BAEF Fellowship, you will need to have good grades and hold Belgian nationality. BAEF offers two categories of fellowships.
The Research Fellowships are available in any field of research at the Master's level, Doctoral level and post-Doctoral level. As a candidate to a BAEF Fellowship for research, you will need to start the process about one year before your research stay in the US. There are 3 simultaneous actions to undertake: identify the most relevant high-quality research unit(s) in your area of research at a US university or institution and request an official invitation letter for a period of 12 months; apply to BAEF by the given deadline; and look for additional financial support.
The Graduate Study Fellowships are available in any fields and various levels starting with the Master level, but including Doctoral degrees as well. As a candidate to a BAEF Fellowship for graduate study, you will need to start the process about one year before your academic year in the U.S. There are 4 simultaneous actions to undertake: apply to a minimum of 3 US Universities, although we recommend 5-6 well-known US universities as the admission process is highly competitive; determine which standard tests are required by each university for each study program (TOEFL or IELTS, GRE or GMAT); apply to BAEF by the given deadline; and and look for additional financial support.
