Scholarship Description

The Washington CPA Foundation is thrilled to offer over $500,000 in scholarships to support students in Washington State pursuing a career as Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) for the coming academic year. With over 40 years of history in awarding accounting scholarships, this year brings an expanded opportunity to help more students on their CPA journey. Scholarships are available for rising juniors and above, including fifth-year, master’s, and PhD candidates at accredited Washington institutions. Undergraduate and fifth-year students are eligible for $5,000 awards, while master’s and PhD candidates may receive $5,000 to $10,000.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarship awards range from $5,000 to $10,000, depending on academic level.
  • Eligible for tuition only; payments are made directly to the college or university.
  • Funds are disbursed in late July.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an accounting major planning to become a CPA.
  • Must attend an accredited college or university in Washington State.
  • Must be entering junior year or higher in Fall, including fifth-year, master’s, PhD candidates, and community college transfers.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in accounting and overall.
  • Must be involved in on-campus, off-campus, or community activities or hold a job.
  • Licensed CPAs are ineligible unless applying for PhD scholarship assistance.

Application Process

  1. Start your application via the online portal, with the flexibility to update it until the February 14 deadline at 11:59 PM PST.
  2. Submit a current resume detailing jobs, internships, volunteer roles, and leadership experiences.
  3. Provide official or unofficial transcripts from all colleges attended.
  4. Submit one letter of recommendation on official letterhead from a faculty member, employer, mentor, or licensed CPA through the application portal.
