The EMPOWER (Encourage Minority Participation in Occupations with Emphasis on Rehabilitation) Scholarship, administered by the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute encourages and supports ethnically diverse students who are pursuing a career in a medical or rehabilitation field.
Eligibility
- Must be a minority student
- Must be accepted to or enrolled in a post-secondary program in a patient-focused healthcare field
- Resident of Minnesota or Western Wisconsin
- Demonstrate financial need
- Minimum 2.0 GPA
Application Checklist
- Completed application form
- Volunteer/Community Service essay (in application)
- Financial Need Statement (in application)
- Two Reference Letters- one from a coordinator of volunteers verifying your volunteer or community service and One personal reference – (i.e. teacher, coach, clergy, employment…)
- Copy of school transcript and/or acceptance letter
Applicants must identify how they will use their education and training and demonstrate their interest in rehabilitation. Selection is based on the applicant’s stated intentions, past achievements, need and graduation ranking.
