  • Scholarship Description
  • Sam Singhaus and his sister-in-law Marcy Singhaus were beloved and influential members of the Orlando Community, both passed in 2020. Sam grew up in Orlando, attending Boone High School where he participated in theatre and dance and would later be the recipient of a ballet scholarship and set his sights on New York. Throughout his career, Sam performed on Broadway stages, (La Cage aux Folles and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) local theatres, clubs, and countless charity events as his renowned drag persona Miss Sammy. Behind the scenes, Marcy’s self-taught talents elevated and refined every theatre production that she had a hand in. For over 25 years, her costume designs made performers look fabulous and she mentored many young artists along the way. Sam and Marcy always encouraged the creativity in others and made a lasting impact on their community; this scholarship is intended to carry that spirit into the future of theatre.
