Scholarship Description

In accordance with the will of the late Anna Lee Stacey, a trust fund has been created for the education of young men and women who aim to make art their profession.

Scholarship Details

  • The scholarship aims to foster high standards in the study of art forms such as form, color, drawing, painting, design, and technique, aligning with the classical tradition of Western culture.
  • Applicants dedicated to the classical or conservative tradition of art should apply.
  • The application process requires applicants to outline their ambitions and plans and submit up to 6 examples of their paintings and drawings for judging.
  • The scholarship funds can be used to further art education along conservative lines, with recipients required to provide periodic reports and digital images of their work.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to United States citizens, both men and women.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • For traditional art exclusively:

    • Painting from life
    • Drawing from the figure (nude)
    • Composition
    • Landscape
    • Any other examples of your work which you think advisable

Application Process

  1. Prepare and submit your application during the application period, which runs from November 1 through February 1st
  2. The online application will require you to outline your artistic ambitions, plans, and submit examples of your work.
  3. Examples of suggested subject categories for your work include painting from life, drawing from the nude figure, composition, landscape, and other advisable examples.
  4. Successful applicants will be expected to provide periodic reports and digital images of their work during the scholarship period.

The terms of the Staceys’ will expressly limit the scholarship to the fine arts of painting and drawing. Work in related and practical fields (such as sculpture, collage, etc.) is inadmissible except as supplementary to the required work. Types of work that DO NOT meet the qualifications for this award include sculpture, collage, printmaking, anime, animation, graphic design, illustration, fashion design and photography.
