Scholarship Description

The Longfield Family Charitable Foundation generously sponsors our Norma Gray annual scholarship in honor of founding member Norma’s passion and dedication to supporting the creative development of Michigan artists. All scholarships are competitively awarded based upon an applicant’s merit and goals in the visual arts.

Scholarship Details

  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students in visual arts
  • Competitive scholarship awarded based on merit and goals
  • All eligible applicants also considered for the Ron and Norma Gray Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be between 17 and 25 years of age
  • Full-time Michigan residents attending a Michigan college/university
  • Livingston County high school seniors eligible for an additional $1,000 High School Scholarship

Application Process

  1. Complete the scholarship application form
  2. Submit an Artist’s Goal Statement (minimum 75 words) as a PDF, explaining your artistic motivations, methods, and visual art goals for the coming year
  3. Include five artwork samples in digital jpg format (300 dpi, max 4MB each). For 3D art, include both front and back views
  4. Label each artwork file with the artist’s name, title, medium, and dimensions (e.g., JohnDoe_sunset_acrylic_18wx22h)

We will have a formal scholarship presentation in the summer at the Brighton Art Guild’s monthly program/presentation at the Brighton District Library. All scholarship recipients are expected to attend the presentation depending on restrictions at that time, and encouraged to bring guests and family if possible, and samples of their works to share.
