If you are a student enrolled in grades 9-12 as of the entry deadline and have thoughts on humanity and the future, you are invited to share your perception and vision by entering an essay in the Humanist Essay Contest. The contest is open to students currently residing in the United States or Canada.
• 1st Prize: $1,000, three-year membership in the American Humanist Association, and an invitation to present your essay at the AHA Annual Conference (does not include travel expenses)
• 2nd Prize: Library of ten Humanist books and a three-year membership in the AHA
• 3rd Prize: Three-year membership in the AHA
• Honorable Mentions: One-year membership in the AHA
(Note: All AHA memberships include a subscription to the Humanist magazine)
Essays must be between 1,500-2,500 words in length, written in English, and single-spaced. They must be submitted by email, either in the body of the email or attached as a Word file. Only one essay may be submitted by each entrant. Please provide your name, age, date of birth, mailing address (no post office boxes), telephone number, and email address on the title page of your essay (so we can readily contact you if your are a finalist or winner).
